been living in Chelmsford with her husband and two children. She studied at art school as a
teenager and moving country years later made it possible for her to return to painting.
Svetlana is a figurative artist and paints mainly in oil. In her work, she seeks beauty amidst
ordinary life. Her paintings are inspired by moments that evoke personal sentiments, or
simply reflect the visual enjoyment of everyday objects and places she has visited. She
works with different subject matters, enjoying the challenges of painting from life or using
reference photos.
Svetlana has taken part in the Chelmsford Open Art Exhibitions, and exhibitions organised
by the Chelmsford Art Society. Her paintings were Highly Commended in the SAA
(Supporting All Artists) “Artists of the Year” competitions in both 2023 and in 2024, after

Christine Hopper started to paint when she retired which was something she had always
wanted to do but never found the time. Not having any official training, she went to
workshops trying all media and gradually decided that she liked to paint in oil, acrylic and
pastel. She has developed different styles over the years and the medium she is using
dictates the style of painting. She has had many great tutors who she is eternally grateful to
who have taught her to express herself and forget convention just go for it. She sometimes
paints very traditionally and sometimes likes to go off grid with abstract and bold colours.
She has entered many exhibitions and sold her paintings internationally.
She is Secretary of the Chelmsford Art Society UK and also exhibits at the Artists at the
Meadows gallery in Chelmsford.

Vincent Dawson is a prolific English contemporary artist living in Maldon. Dawson was a
designer and creator of period costumes primarily for the Venice Carnival and the Ballo del
Doge, the most exclusive international event of the Carnival, and was a founder member of
the original creative team. His costumes were exhibited all over Italy and appeared on stage
and screen.
His painting specialises mainly in semi-abstract, abstract, graphic and modern impressionist
art. His principal influences come from old architecture, textiles and elements from nature.
He uses a variety of tools in his work, including broad brushes, palette knives, natural
sponges, and pen and ink. This enables him to weave those familiar textures, creating
atmosphere and cohesion in colour. He is a member of the Chelmsford Art Society, SAA
(Society of All Artists) and the British Art Club (Daily Telegraph). He also exhibits at the
Artists at the Meadows gallery in Chelmsford.
