We are delighted to welcome Sally back to the centre for another fabulous exhibition.
Sally Howard is an Essex-based artist whose practice spans stained glass, painting,
drawing, and printmaking. Working from her home studio in Fingringhoe, she creates
luminous glass panels and mixed-media artworks inspired by the hedgerows,
coastlines, and natural textures of the local landscape. Her stained-glass pieces
combine painted and fused elements with copper foil and traditional leadwork,
resulting in richly layered works that celebrate the rhythms and intricacies of the natural
world.
Working primarily in oil, gouache and mixed media, she creates portraits that balance
close observation, capturing not only likeness but the emotional resonance of her
sitters in portraiture and life drawings. Her paintings often draw on the textures, colours,
and shifting light of the Essex landscape.
Her training in Theatre Design and Production at Croydon College, London—has shaped
her understanding of composition, character, and visual storytelling.
Sally is offering a ‘Meet the Artist’ day at the centre on Friday 20th March between 11am and 4pm.
