Maldon Heritage Group

Maldon District is fortunate to have a rich and diverse history, supported by a wide range of local heritage organisations, societies and community groups. Together, these organisations play an important role in preserving and sharing the history of Maldon and its surrounding area, while encouraging continued learning and understanding of the people, places and events that have shaped the district.

Many of these groups also care for and preserve valuable collections of artefacts, objects, photographs, drawings, documents and other material that help bring our local history to life.

As part of its commitment to supporting the wider heritage community, the Maeldune Trustees are pleased to provide links to our heritage partners and other local organisations. We hope that by helping visitors discover these organisations and the work they undertake, we can encourage greater engagement with Maldon’s heritage and support the sharing of knowledge across the community.

This approach reflects the principles of regenerative tourism embraced within the Maldon District and by the Saltmarsh Coast CIC: encouraging visitors to explore more widely, discover the work of local organisations and contribute to the sustainability of the communities and heritage they experience.
