2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the exhibiting group The Material Girls. Since their formation this Essex based group of Textile Artists have exhibited continually both in the UK and internationally as well as given demonstrations and talks, leading workshops, organising community projects and working as creative partners to the National Trust property Rainham Hall.
Before the pandemic plans were in place for a large celebratory exhibition but unfortunately as for many other things this had to put on hold until the Maeldune centre in Maldon offered the group an exhibiting space to show part of the exhibition in August this year.
This exhibition features textile and mixed media pieces exploring what each artist finds magical about gardens. The Material Girls hope visitors to the exhibition will enjoy leaving their troubles at the door and step into ‘The Enchanted Garden’.
